Mary Shattuck Tebbetts, lover of wildflowers

Mary Shattuck Tebbetts of Cabot died February 26. She was 82.  She was the wife of the late Arnold Tebbetts. The two farmed together for more than 40 years before his death in 2001. Wildflowers were special to her. Dad always picked Marsh Marigolds for her on Mother’s Day.

Mary was a graduate of Lyndon Institute and the University of Vermont. She studied classics at UVM and taught Latin at Lyndon and Cabot Schools. She also was the former Cabot School Librarian. Mary loved antiques, gardening, wildflowers and nature. Mary also raced Saab cars in road rallies in Vermont during the 1950s.

No service now but will celebrate her life when the bluebirds are back, there is mint in the meadow and the buttercups are in bloom. Arrangements will be announced at a later time. Donations can be made in her name to the Cabot Public Library.
