Lucille R. Cardinal, matriarch of her six-generation family

Lucille lived at Countryside Apartments in South Burlington. Most of her life was spent in Burlington and Winooski. She was a loving mother of 10. She loved music and dancing — sometimes she even got up to sing some country songs. When we were children, she would sit us around her chair in the living room and sing us hymns and other country music songs.

Lucille worked mostly in dry cleaning shops, running the large presses. She was also always busy at home keeping things up and caring for her family.

She is predeceased by her parents, Norris and Louisa Hemingway Gaudette, two sisters Ester Richards and Gertrude Demar of St. Albans, two brothers Norris Gaudette of Milton and Gene Holbrook of Ganesvoort NY, two husbands Donald Cardinal of Burlington and Lawrence Scally of Queensbury, NY, her daughter Peggy Cardinal of Swanton, her grandson Kevin Traysh of Winooski, her son Tracy Cardinal Of Johnson, and her son- in-law Raymond Litchfield of Winooski.

She is survived by one sister, Georgianna Demar of St. Albans, and her sons and their partners, Anthony and Naomi, Thomas, Tim and Christine, and Todd, all of Vermont. She also leaves behind her daughters and their partners, Joanne and Erwin Devino of Waterbury and Lake Wales, Florida, Diane, Casey and Jeff Charbonneau of Milton and Sephyrhills, Florida, Gail Litchfield of Vermont and Jacqueline and Tim Noble of Fort Edward, NY. Additionally, Lucille had several nieces, nephews, cousins, a special friend Nancy Duchane, and approximately 180 great-grand children with one great-great-great grandchild.

In 2019, Lucille was ever so proud to have become matriarch of her 6-generation family. This was the 2nd time in 18 years this family has seen 6 generations.
