Update voter registration by Aug. 31 to guarantee mailed ballot, secretary of state says

Vermont voters should register to vote or update their voter registration by next Wednesday, Aug. 31, in order to ensure they will receive a mailed ballot for the general election, according to Secretary of State Jim Condos.

All registered voters will automatically receive a ballot by mail for this year’s general election thanks to Act 60, the universal mail-in voting law passed last year. Unlike primary ballots, general election ballots do not need to be requested in advance.

But in order to receive a ballot, each voter’s information must be up-to-date. Voters can check their registration status and update their information using the MyVoterPage on the Secretary of State’s Office’s website or by visiting their town clerk.

Starting in late September, voters can return completed ballots by mail or deliver them to their town clerk. Polling places will be open for in-person voting on Election Day, Nov. 8.
