Owen David Williams, funny, thoughtful and loving

Owen David Williams, November 13, 1974-January 20, 2022

Senior Programmer/Analyst at Vermont Student Assistance Corporation

Owen David Williams, Maple Street, Burlington, died unexpectedly on January 20, 2022 of complications from the COVID virus, though he had always been very careful during the pandemic as well as fully vaccinated and with the booster.

He was born on November 13, 1974 in Mount Holly, New Jersey, the first child of  Carl David and Diane Semkus Williams. After early years in the Catskill Mountains he lived in Vermont.

He always amazed us. As a child he was inquisitive and curious and funny and loving. As an adult he was thoughtful and concerned and funny and loving. He valued family. He watched out for the marginalized and the defenseless in the world. He loved music of all kinds, astronomy and physics and so much more. He graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre, VT and Earlham College in  Richmond, IN. He was loved and respected by friends from each chapter of his life.

Besides his parents he is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Benjamin  Williams and Amanda Ferguson-Cradler of Tarrytown, NY and his sister and  brother-in-law Megan and Joshua Shedaker of Colchester, VT. He is beloved  “Monkey Owey” to nephews Finnigan, Oliver, and Quilan. He is also survived by aunts and uncles Sue and William Beaulieu, Massena NY, James and Suzanne  Williams, Lewes, DE, and David and Marie Semkus, North Haven, NY, as well as cousins.

We will gather in spring to celebrate him.
