Absentee ballots for primary election now available

Let the voting begin.

The Vermont Secretary of State has announced the start of absentee voting for the primary election.

Registered voters may request a ballot from town clerks in person, by phone or by mail.

The primary election is Aug. 26. Absentee ballots must be submitted by 5 p.m. or the close of the town clerk’s office on Aug. 25.

Jim Condos, the Secretary of State, urges Vermonters to vote in advance of the election.

“Early voting is a great way to make sure that you have an opportunity to vote. Vermonters are busy people and getting to the polls on Election Day doesn’t fit everyone’s schedule – early voting is a chance to guarantee you make your voice heard,” Condos said.

The deadline for voter registration is 5 p.m., Wednesday Aug. 20.

For an online absentee ballot request form, or for more information about early voting, go to the Secretary of State’s office website.
